Leadership & Offices

The Lodge is led by its Worshipful Master, supported by a body of officers who each hold a particular charge in its work.

Right Worshipful Master

RW Br. Neil Herbert

Neil Herbert serves as Right Worshipful Master of Scotia Lodge No. 89, presiding over its labours in the Orient of Zug.

The offices of the Lodge, each held by a dedicated Brother:

In keeping with each Brother's wish, some officers appear by name and photograph, others by their initials and the Lodge crest. Every office is held with equal dedication — whether the Brother is named or not.

Deputed Master
W. Br. Norval Gough

A designated member of the Lodge and appointed member of the Grand Lodge ALPINA of Switzerland, overseeing the general works of the Lodge.

Immediate Past Master
Held by a Brother

The Master's predecessor, offering counsel, memory and continuity.

Worshipful Substitute Master
Held by a Brother

Deputises for the Master and the Deputed Master and may rule the Lodge in their absence — an office of the Scottish tradition.

Worshipful Senior Warden
Held by a Brother

Second principal officer; supports the Master and may rule the Lodge in his absence.

Worshipful Junior Warden
Held by a Brother

Third principal officer; watches over the Brethren and the festive board.

Treasurer
Held by a Brother

Keeps and safeguards the finances of the Lodge.

Secretary
Held by a Brother

Keeps the records, minutes and correspondence of the Lodge.

Chaplain
Held by a Brother

Leads the Lodge in prayer and moments of reflection.

Director of Ceremonies
Held by a Brother

Ensures the ritual and processions are conducted with dignity and order.

Senior Deacon
Held by a Brother

Bears messages and conducts candidates through the ceremonies.

Junior Deacon
Held by a Brother

Assists the Senior Deacon and attends upon the Wardens.

Almoner
Held by a Brother

Cares for the welfare of the Brethren and their families.

Inner Guard
Held by a Brother

Guards the inner door of the Lodge.

Tyler
Held by a Brother

Guards the outer door of the Lodge, sword in hand.
